為國道第一個設立之服務區，鄰近桃園國際機場，具有台灣門戶之意像功能，
導入旅行的元素，「以旅行、映像台灣」為主題，運用生活博物館概念，將台灣319鄉鎮風情人文影像運用於產品及空間中，整體設計風格呈現：以回、憶與願景－台灣門戶，期望帶給用路人如進入美術館的休憩空間氛圍。
以『世界窗口、夢想啟航－魅力台灣向前GO』為主軸，塑造中壢服務區新印象，帶給更多用路人嶄新的概念與服務。區站服務設施 : 各式餐飲、育嬰室、行動辦公區、國道資訊補給站、ETC收費、ATM、洗手台等公共服務以及故宮精品區、OTOP台灣特色產品。
The Zhongli Service Area was the first of its kind to be established in Taiwan. Close to Taoyuan International Airport, the service area functions as a gateway to Taiwan for international visitors and a last stopover before flying out for locals, and thus the twin themes of travel and images of Taiwan have been incorporated into its design and decoration. Conceived as a living museum, the Zhongli Service Area incorporates cultural and scenic elements from Taiwan’s 319 townships and villages into the overall space and in the products it offers to provide visitors with a museum-like environment that evokes either nostalgia for Taiwan or anticipation of their upcoming visit when they stop over for a rest.
国道で初めて建てられたサービスエリアで、桃園国際空港にほど近く、台湾の玄関口のような機能を果たしています。旅行の要素を取り入れて「旅行、映像の台湾」をテーマとしており、生活博物館の応用というコンセプトのもと、台湾にある319の郷や鎮（集落）の風情あふれる人文とその姿を製品や空間に活かしています。デザインには過去を懐かしむ気持ちと未来への前向きな思いが込められています。台湾の玄関口では、まるで美術館の休憩スペースに入ったかのような雰囲気を、ドライバーの方々に感じていただけることを望んでいます。
