卯澳是因「漁」而形成的村落，古代是平埔族原住民（凱達格蘭族）的漁場。因漁獲量相當可觀，有「小基隆」的稱號。
Maoao is a village formed by “fishing”. The area was the fishing ground of the Ketagalan tribe among the Taiwanese Plains Indigenous Peoples. As the yield was considerable, it was thus called “Little Keelung”.
卯澳は「漁」のために作られた村のこと。古代は平埔族原住民（ケタガラン族）の漁場でした。漁獲量の多さから「小基隆」との呼び名があります。

福隆火車站下車，租借自行車沿「舊草嶺環狀線自行車道」騎乘30分鐘至「卯澳海洋驛站」。
Get off the train at the Fulong Railway Station. Rent a bike and cycle along the “Old Circular Caoling Bikeway” for about 30 minutes to “Mao’ao Fishing Village Station.”
福隆駅下車、レンタサイクルで「旧草嶺環状線サイクリングロード」に沿って30分走ると「卯澳海洋驛駅」に到着。
