草嶺古道為早期先民往返台北宜蘭重要連絡通道之一，是淡蘭古道僅存的部分遺址，此步道非常受歡迎，全長8.5公里，常有遊客前來登山。
Caoling Historic Trail is one of the important road links traversed by early settlers between Yilan and Taipei, and is the only remaining part of the old Danlan /Tamsui-Kavalan Historic Trail. This trail is very popular, with a total length of 8.5 kilometers, and is often visited by tourists.
