潮境公園園區原本為一處垃圾集放地，後來經海洋科技博物館籌備處規劃改建後，成為一處看海賞景的最佳去處，而以「潮境」為名的這個公園，因為位於漁港及漁村旁，便希望以這個名稱為地方帶來源源不絕的蘊藏與豐收。進入潮境公園唯一的入口位於長潭里漁港及望海巷漁港中間的一座橘紅色小橋－「平浪橋」，過了這座橋之後，左手邊是長潭里漁村及漁港，右側則是開闊的海蝕平台與海景，在潮境的春夏時分，退潮時的海蝕平台是最佳的自然教室，豐富多樣化的自然生態，讓大家驚呼連連，每個人雙腳都泡著清涼的海水，眼光不停的探尋有趣的潮間帶生物，好不熱鬧！
