潮境營運工作站基本上與經營一個小型水族館無異，水生生物之採集與飼養、機電與維生系統之操作、水質的調整與管理、餌料生物之處理與疾病之防治，都是彼此環環相扣而且關係密切之知識與技術。如何穩定營運本站，對參與作業之成員都是一個挑戰。另一方面，也是培養優秀水族專業人員良好的訓練場所。
